The rehabilitation workforce in Georgia: evaluation report 2024–2025

Overview

This report presents a national evaluation of Georgia’s rehabilitation workforce across five key professions, providing evidence to support policy and workforce planning. Using the WHO Guide for Rehabilitation Workforce Evaluation, the assessment combines desk review, stakeholder consultations and consensus-based methods to identify priorities related to workforce availability, accessibility, acceptability and quality. While progress has been made in expanding education programmes and strengthening policy frameworks, significant gaps remain in workforce supply, regulation, service integration and public awareness. The findings underscore the need for coordinated investment, stronger governance and improved workforce planning. By aligning rehabilitation workforce priorities with national health reforms and implementing the Rehabilitation Strategy 2023–2027, Georgia can strengthen service integration, improve equitable access and build a more resilient health system.
