Parenting interventions repository
The WHO Global Repository of Evidence-Based Parenting Interventions is designed to make reliable information on effective parenting programmes easier to find, understand and use. It brings together evidence-based interventions from diverse geographical and income settings and presents information on what works in an accessible format, supporting informed decision-making and the adaptation and scale-up of effective approaches across contexts. The Repository is primarily intended for policy-makers and funders, academics and researchers, and practitioners and programme managers, including those working in governments, international organizations, civil society, research institutions and community settings.
It focuses on structured parenting interventions that strengthen parent–child interactions and improve parenting skills, knowledge, attitudes, behaviours and relationships, with the ultimate aim of improving children’s wellbeing and development. The Repository seeks geographical diversity across low-, middle- and high-income settings, with particular interest in interventions involving the health sector. Interventions are identified through submissions, networks and desk research and assessed using transparent criteria covering effectiveness, transferability and cost-effectiveness. Evidence is extracted and reviewed by researchers, with expert review of ratings and limitations before publication. An accompanying registry is being developed which captures emerging interventions or those not yet meeting the Repository’s evidence threshold.
